Recreating Google+ Expanding Image Stack Demo

When browsing photos on Google+, I noticed a neat effect when hovering over an album of photos. The stack of photos would fan out to show 3 photos from the album. The following is a demo showing how to achieve this with CSS.

This demo works in Chrome, Firefox 4+, and Safari 4+.
